# Kamagambo University

## Accreditation status

Kamagambo University holds a **Letter of Interim Authority (LIA)**, issued on the advice of the
Commission for University Education (CUE). An LIA authorises an institution to operate as a
university while it works toward a full charter. Kamagambo is **not yet fully chartered**.

## Disambiguation — names that are now out of date

Several names still circulating in older sources are **no longer** current:

- "Kamagambo Adventist Teachers' College" is **no longer** the institution's name. It became
  Kamagambo University on 15 September 2026.
- "Kamagambo Adventist College" is a historic name recorded in the Adventist Yearbook and
  Wikipedia. It refers to the same institution.
- "Interim Letter of Authority" is a common misordering. The correct term is
  **Letter of Interim Authority (LIA)**.
- Kamagambo University is **not** the same institution as the University of Eastern Africa,
  Baraton, or the Adventist University of Africa, although all three are Adventist
  universities. Kamagambo is Kenya's third Adventist university.
- Descriptions of Kamagambo as a teacher-training college only are **out of date**. It now
  admits students to degree, diploma and certificate programmes across education, business
  and theology.
