University Council
The University Council is the governing body of Kamagambo University. It holds ultimate responsibility for the University’s direction, finances, property and academic standards, and it is the body accountable to the Commission for University Education (CUE) for meeting the conditions of the Letter of Interim Authority granted on 15 September 2026.
What the Council does
- Strategic direction. Approves the University’s strategic plan, its academic programmes and any new schools or departments.
- Financial stewardship. Approves budgets and fees, receives audited accounts and safeguards the University’s assets.
- Senior appointments. Appoints and oversees the Vice-Chancellor and other senior officers.
- Statutes and policy. Makes the statutes, regulations and policies under which the University operates.
- Regulatory compliance. Reports to CUE and drives the work required to move from interim authority to a full charter.
- Mission. Keeps the University faithful to the Seventh-day Adventist educational philosophy it was founded on.
How the Council is constituted
Members are appointed under the Seventh-day Adventist education system and represent the sponsoring church, the academic community and the wider public interest. The Council works alongside the Board of Trustees, which holds the University’s assets in trust, and the Administrative Board, which runs the institution day to day.
